GDPR is the General Data Protection Regulation, a new EU-wide regulation which replaces and enhances the existing Data Protection Act.
The ramifications within a dealership environment are wide-ranging and dealers will need to take action in advance of the regulations coming into force in May 2018 to ensure that they are compliant.
The aim of the GDPR is to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches in an increasingly data-driven world that is vastly different from the time in which the 1995 directive was established. Although the key principles of data privacy still hold true to the previous directive, many changes have been proposed to the regulatory policies; the key points of the GDPR as well as information on the impacts it will have on business can be found below.
Navigator is currently being upgraded to provide a suite of new features and updates to support GDPR. These are due for release towards the end of the year.
However, Navigator users will need to be considering GDPR shortly (if not already) and the way we are approaching the changes to GDPR will have a significant impact on dealer processes and privacy policies as they make the changes for GDPR.
So, in order to provide our users with more information, we are hosting a series of seminars in the coming weeks which outline the updates we are making, the impact that this will have and how these will help you become GDPR compliant in time for May 2018.
Each seminar will be restricted to the number of attendees - they will last for approximate 40 minutes including a question and answer session. The seminar will be hosted by Simon Verona, Managing Director of DMS.
